Q+A | Meet The Luna Girl

Hey there, y'all! My name is Christine and I write and edit The Luna Girl.

While I typically prefer sticking behind the scenes (#writer), I figured that it was time I introduced myself as the girl behind the posts! So, here's a little Q+A I asked myself (ha!) and a few (or twelve) of my favorite things.

What do we need to know about you?

I'm a mom of two young girls, Marlo and Edie, and a native Charlottean. We moved back to Charlotte last December after living in NYC for three years while my husband attended grad school and, while NYC is great for many things, there is no place like home. I'm a writer by trade but I began my career at Luna doing a little bit of everything over nine years ago.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

witty, no-nonsense, self-deprecating

Three random facts about yourself?

(1) My husband and I were set up on a blind date when I was 19. (2) I've never watched an episode of the Bachelor or the Bachelorette and NEVER WILL. (3) I'm in the process of writing a book. You can read more of my writing on my personal blog here. (!!!)

Favorite thing(s) about Charlotte?

The relatively mild winters (especially when compared to New York winters), the fact that all of our family lives here, and it's only three hours from the beach (I'm a total beach girl).

What are your best/worst habits?

Best? Drinking a ton of water every day and always washing my face before bed. Worst? I drop the F-bomb more than I should and I pop my knuckles.

What would your friends say about you?

They'd probably say that I'm a really good cook, I pour a mean glass of rosé, and that I'm the person they most often go to for advice or to hear that it's all going to be okay (which it is).

What's your motto?

Do no harm but take no shit.

Don't be an asshole.

Water the flowers in your life, not the weeds.

1. Biologique Recherche P50 is my secret skin weapon. My skin completely freaks out if I skip it even just one day. It's expensive but it's the one thing that keeps my temperamental skin clear. I can't even tell you how many women I've converted to its' magical powers. 2. I'm not a big jewelry or accessories person so these Vrai+Oro rose gold bar earrings are subtle enough to wear every day but surprisingly something that many people take notice of. 3. This White + Warren cashmere travel wrap is basically a luxurious adult version of a child's security blanket. 4. This collagen-protein powder is, by far, my favorite plant-based supplement to add to my morning smoothie. I've noticed a huge difference in my skin since using it. 5. When I had my second daughter, I needed a handsfree baby bag but one that didn't scream DIAPER BAG! This leather Claire V. bag fit the bill and is chic enough to carry even when I'm not with my girls. 6. I'm a big fan of pretty underthings-- even when no one is going to be seeing them-- and Cosabella does bralettes better than anyone else. 7. I try to use as many natural and/organic beauty products as possible so when a girlfriend turned me onto RMS Beauty, I immediately became a devotee. Their 'un-cover up' concealer, 'Living Luminizer', and 'Master Mixer' are the holy grail when it comes to looking less tired than I actually am. 8. I lived in NYC for three years before moving back to Charlotte and became obsessed with Le Labo. Santal 33 is absolutely worth the hype if you like musky, woodsy, more unisex fragrances. I recently visited NYC for a weekend and made sure to pick up their home candles in the accompanying scent, Santal 26. (You're welcome.) 9. I'm very much a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of girl. These and these are currently on constant rotation. 10. I'm kind of fanatical about drinking water and I try to drink at least 100 ounces every day. I prefer glass water bottles and this one isn't hideous. Plus it comes in a 1L size which makes reaching my 3L-a-day quota easy to keep track of. 11. I've worn the same style of gold-framed Ray-Bans aviators for over a decade now. I recently bought a rounder version and am in love them. If they're good enough for Beyonce, they're good enough for me. 12. What's better than an iconic pair of high-top Chuck Taylor's? A pair of LEATHER iconic high-top Chuck Taylor's, of course.
