As we graciously welcome those cooler fall temps, we often begin taking inventory of where our fall wardrobes may be lacking. And, just like when building a house, it seems obvious to begin by building a strong foundation and shouldn't that foundation begins at the bottom? (Pun intended.)
As the anchor of any autumn wardrobe, arguably, nothing will prove a better investment than the perfect pair of wear-with-any-and-everything jeans. A classic pair of blue skinnies are the most obvious choice, of course. However, fall is a perfect opportunity to branch out and try something outside of your comfort zone.
Enter the cropped wide-leg. While initially intimidating, you'd be surprised by this power player' versatility. Look for a higher rise, raw hems, or a more structured wide cuff for the more practical. And as for the more adventurous, try an embroidered boyfriend style circa 90's Blossom. Pair with a black or heather grey cashmere turtleneck sweater for a business up top/ party on the bottom vibe, creating the perfect balance appropriate for almost any occasion.
Another less traditional-- though equally functional-- route is courtesy of grey or black denim. You can dress these babies up with heels and a patterned blouse/structured blazer combo or dress it down with your trustiest fashion sneakers and your boyfriend's decade old sweatshirt.
Maybe you're more of a traditionalist and prefer fifty shades of blue over a slew of funkier options. No promlemo. We can attest that a leg-lengthening flare or modern spin on the bootcut with a micro crop will never steer you wrong.
The moral of the story is that, where denim is concerned, anything goes. No matter which you prefer, this season' denim trends will undoubtedly prove to be dominant power players in your sartorial arsenal, stepping up to bat for your lower half time and time again.
